Personal Philosophy
My philosophy on physical education is that everybody has the ability to be physically active in some way. Some people like participating in team sports, some people prefer more independent activities, such as rock climbing or dance. I believe that variety is the spice of life and if you can't find something you enjoy doing actively, then you haven't looked hard enough. I like to think of being physically active as a lifestyle, that's why I think it's important to instill the love of being active into children as early as possible. I believe that through games and play that young children develop a variety of social skills. They learn to take turns and share. They learn to win and they learn to lose. They learn to cooperate and they learn to communicate. They also learn how to support one another. Some of my fondest moments in teaching have not come from the records broken or games won, but from watching as one classmate lends a hand to help another off the floor or when I hear "great game" or "good try" from an opponent. I believe in the not only the physical benefits, but also the psychological affects which come from exercise. It is a fact that chemicals in the brain are stimulated during exercise, resulting in a happier, more stress free you.
